The Chroma Shield manufacturing process is a series of chemical reactions between the paver and the Chroma Shield solution. As pavers are demolded, a proprietary aqueous-based solution is sprayed on the surface causing a chemical/molecular reaction that creates the Chroma Shield protective layer. This new protective compound penetrates into the surface of the paver three to five millimeters deep and can only be removed with heavy abrasion/wear.
Many of our products are appropriate for use in vehicular applications. You can find the specific applications each product is appropriate for on our website pages for each product. It is always best to consult a professional regarding any vehicular applications before starting your project.
We have many installation resources available on our website. These resources can be found here: Resources

You do not need to apply additional sealant to pavers that have been treated with Chroma Shield protectant. However if you have one of our entry level products that are not manufactured with Chroma Shield you may wish to seal your pavers. It is alsoways best to consult a professional who will be able to guide you on the best approach for your project.
If a paver is marked with the Chroma Shield logo it is already manufactured with Chroma Shield protectant.
For porcelain pavers and pavers without a chamfered edge, use a plastic edged snow shovel. Metal edged snow shovels could lead to chipping or lifting of the paver in some cases. You should never use a snow plow on pavers or porcelain tiles.
Pressure washing is not recommended for most situations as it can damage the surface of your pavers or remove joint materials. For more detailed info on maintenance and care for your pavers check out our paver care and maintenance guide here: Maintenance Guide
Paver efflorescence is a common issue that occurs with concrete or stone pavers. Effloresemce appears as a white, powdery substance on the surface of the pavers and is caused by water-soluble salts within the pavers being brought to the surface by moisture. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind the salts, resulting in the white residue. Effloresence is more likely to appear in pavers that are not manufactured with properly hydrated cement. RCP ensures all of our paver products are manufactured with consistently hydrated cement to reduce the risk of effloresence.
RCP offers a cleaning products that can be used to remove any efflorecence from the surface of the paver. We advise sealing the paver post treatment.
